Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe, popularly known as Wande Coal, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Born on October 18, 1985, in Lagos Island, Nigeria, Wande Coal has had an exceptional journey in the Nigerian music industry.
Wande Coal was born to Chief Ibukun Olufunto and Omolara Oluwayemisi Ojosipe. He spent his early years in Lagos, where he attended Staff Nursery and Primary School Ijanikin and later Federal Government College in Lagos.
Wande Coal’s journey in music started at his church’s teenage choir. He got his big break when he was signed by Don Jazzy to Mo’ Hits Records in 2006. He featured on several hit singles and played a significant role in the released CV (Curriculum Vitae) album.
Wande Coal’s debut album, “Mushin To Mo’Hits,” earned him numerous awards, including Best R&B/Pop Single at the 2010 Hip Hop World Awards and African Artiste Of The Year at the 2010 Ghana Music Awards.
In 2012, he, alongside Dr SID and D’Prince, signed on to Don Jazzy’s new Record Label, Mavin Records. He later launched his music label, Black Diamond Entertainment, in 2013.
After a hiatus, he released his second album, “Wanted,” to critical acclaim. His singles “Again” and “Come My Way” were well-received, showcasing his evolving style and talent.
He has released several studio albums and singles, earning him numerous awards, including African Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards 2010 and multiple Hip Hop World Awards.
