This Throwback Thursday, we’re taking it back to the sounds of Shadrach Adeboye Folarin, the talented Nigerian singer-songwriter we know as Shaydee. Born on September 21, 1987, Shaydee has graced the Nigerian music scene with his impressive vocals and captivating songwriting. From his early days in Kano to his chart-topping singles, Shaydee’s journey is one worth revisiting.

Shaydee

Early Beginnings and the Move to Lagos

Shaydee’s musical journey began in Kano, Northern Nigeria, but his passion for music led him to Lagos. He started singing with friends in secondary school and by 2010, he signed with Cackland Records. This marked the beginning of his solo career and saw him release songs like “Love Me Like U Used 2” and “Hands in the Air”. His journey then saw him feature on MI’s “Pain”.

The EME Era and “Won Gbo Mi”

Shaydee’s career took a significant turn when he signed with Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) in 2012. This move amplified his reach and saw him work on the EME compilation album “Empire Mates State of Mind.” Then came the collaboration with Wizkid on the infectious freestyle “Won Gbo Mi” in 2013, a track that dominated local music charts and cemented his place as a force in the industry.

“High” and Recognition

In 2015, Shaydee released the smooth and soulful track “High,” which earned him a nomination at The Headies. He was also nominated for Best R&B Artist of the Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. His distinct vocal prowess, a blend of smoothness and emotion, made him a standout talent of his time.

A Look Back at the Artistry of Shaydee

Shaydee’s music has always stood out with its blend of R&B, Afrobeat, and soulful melodies. From his early singles to his album “Rhythm & Life”, Shaydee left an indelible mark on the Nigerian music scene. This #ThrowbackThursday, we’re celebrating his artistry and hoping that he graces our ears with more music in the future!
