Early Beginnings

In 1991, Sound Sultan discovered his passion for music, performing at school parties and writing his own lyrics. He credits his elder brother Baba Dee for his early influences.

Career Journey

Sound Sultan’s career took off in the 1990s, hosting shows to fund his studio sessions. He won several local talent-hunt shows before releasing his hit single “Mathematics” in 2000.

In 2007, he founded Naija Ninjas after his contract with Kennis Music expired, releasing four albums under the label. He believed in the power of music to convey important messages, spanning various genres from R&B to Afrobeat and Nigerian Fuji music.

Global Collaborations

Sound Sultan collaborated with international artists, including Wyclef Jean, featuring on projects like “Proud to be African” and “People Bad.”

UN Ambassador for Peace

Recognized for his exemplary lifestyle and career, Sound Sultan was appointed a UN Ambassador for Peace in 2012.

Return to Music

After a hiatus, Sound Sultan returned to the music scene in 2015 with the rap single “Remember,” captivating his fans once again.

Legacy and Contributions

Outside of music, Sound Sultan was involved in sports, becoming a team owner of Lagos City Stars in the African Basketball League.

Personal Life and Demise

In 2009, he married his long-term girlfriend, Chichi Morah, and they had three children. Tragically, Sound Sultan passed away on July 11, 2021, at the age of 44, after battling Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.

Remembering His Music

Throughout his career, Sound Sultan released several albums including “Kpsshew,” “Textbook,” “Naija 007,” and “Out of The Box,” leaving behind a rich musical legacy.

Awards and Recognition

He was nominated for several awards, including The Headies Award for Album of the Year in 2012 for “Back From The Future.”

Sound Sultan’s impact on Nigerian music and his contributions to society will always be remembered, his music echoing his passion for change and societal justice.
