With his elder brother’s guidance, he began recording songs in 2008, quickly honing his skills in singing, writing, and producing.

In 2014, his life changed when his brother submitted some of his songs to Mavin Records’ online talent search. This led to his signing with the label and the beginning of an incredible journey under the stage name Reekado Banks, which translates to “strong ruler” and “wealth.”

Reekado Banks’ Mavin Records debut single, “Turn It Up”, featuring Tiwa Savage, marked the start of his professional career in February 2014. His talent continued to shine through his contributions to Mavin’s chart-topping hit “Dorobucci”, alongside other Mavin stars like Don Jazzy, Dr SID, and Korede Bello.

His debut studio album, Spotlight, released in September 2016, debuted at number 10 on the Billboard World Albums chart, cementing his status as one of Nigeria’s top music sensations.
