Aya Nakamura’s story is one of passion, perseverance, and undeniable talent. From her early days in Bamako to setting stages on fire across the globe, she’s a testament to where hard work and talent can get you.
Born in Bamako, Mali, Aya Nakamura’s musical journey started long before she set foot on a professional stage. Growing up in Aulnay-sous-Bois after moving to France, she was surrounded by the melodious traditions of griots from her family. With music in her veins and being the eldest of five siblings, it was only a matter of time before she’d find her rhythm.
Before her melodies captivated hearts worldwide, Aya delved into the world of fashion, studying in La Courneuve. But destiny had other plans. With hits like “Karma” and “J’ai mal” finding their audience online, Aya’s transition from fashion to the music scene seemed almost seamless. Her track “Brisé” had YouTube buzzing, and teaming up with rapper Fababy for “Love d’un voyou” saw her name climbing the French charts.
2017 saw the debut of “Journal intime”, Aya’s first album that set the stage for what was about to come. Fast forward to 2018, and her second album “Nakamura” didn’t just make waves; it was a tidal wave of hits. From “Djadja” to “Copines”, this album had fans singing along worldwide and achieved the coveted Diamond certification in France.
What makes Aya’s music stand out? It’s a vibrant blend of pop with a sprinkle of Afrobeats, a dash of zouk, and the soulful depth of R&B. It’s this unique concoction that has not only made her a household name in France, with five chart-topping songs and a number-one album but also a recognized face on the international music scene.
