Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, famously known as Efya, is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and actress.
Efya was born on April 10, 1987, in Kumasi, Ghana. She gained national recognition after participating in the first edition of Stars of the Future. Notably, she won the Best Female Vocal Performance at the Ghana Music Awards four times consecutively, starting in 2011.
Efya was born in Kumasi, Ghana, on April 10, 1987. She attended Yaa Asantewaa Secondary School and later graduated from the University of Ghana with a degree in theater and music. Efya gained national attention in 2008 after emerging as the first runner-up in Charterhouse’s Stars of The Future television show.
She initially signed with One Nation Entertainment and released her debut mixtape, T.I.N.T (This Is Not The Album), in 2013. This was followed by the release of her debut studio album, Janesis, in 2016. In 2021, Efya was listed among the Top 30 Most Influential Women in Music by 3Music Network.
Efya’s sound is Afro-soul with a pop twist. Her musical influences include Kojo Antwi, Aretha Franklin, and The Temptations. She has collaborated with various artists and continues to captivate audiences with her unique style.
Efya has graced numerous stages across Africa and beyond. Notable performances include the 2011 MTN Ghana Music Awards, the Hope City Launch Celebration Concert with Chris Brown, and the annual Girl Talk concert.
Efya is an official ambassador for the Awal Children of the Future Foundation (ACOTF), a non-profit organization aimed at helping victims of physical and emotional trauma, particularly orphans and street kids.
