Aramide’s journey into the music industry gained momentum in 2006 when she participated in ‘Star Quest,’ one of Nigeria’s prominent music talent shows, where her band secured the third runner-up position. Her unique fusion of Afro-soul and jazz, coupled with her ability to sing in both Yoruba and English, set her apart in the industry.
In 2015, she released the single “Iwo Nikan,” which earned her the Best Vocal Performance (Female) award at The Headies 2015, solidifying her status as a leading female vocalist in Nigeria.
Her debut album, “Suitcase,” was released on November 22, 2016, featuring collaborations with artists like Sound Sultan, Ice Prince, Adekunle Gold, Koker, and Sir Dauda. The album received critical acclaim for its depth and musicality.
Aramide’s music is influenced by iconic artists such as Erykah Badu, Miriam Makeba, Sade, and Angélique Kidjo. She describes her genre as Afro-Soul, blending soul and jazz with African music elements to create a distinctive sound that resonates with a diverse audience.
Aramide is married and has a child. She continues to balance her personal life with her musical career, often drawing inspiration from her experiences.
In 2019, Aramide’s contributions to music were recognized internationally when she was appointed to the Board of Governors for the Washington, D.C. chapter of The Recording Academy (the Grammys), highlighting her influence and commitment to the global music scene.
