Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, is a Nigerian disc jockey, musician, and producer making waves on the global stage. Born on November 11, 1992, she is the daughter of Nigerian billionaire businessman Femi Otedola. DJ Cuppy has carved out her niche in the music industry through a unique blend of Afrobeat and electronic sounds, captivating audiences worldwide.
DJ Cuppy spent her formative years in Lagos, Nigeria, before moving to London at the age of 13. She attended Grange School in Ikeja before completing her GCSEs and A-Levels in London. Her educational journey led her to King’s College London, where she earned a degree in Business and Economics in 2014. Her passion for music further prompted her to pursue a Master’s degree in Music Business from New York University in 2015.
In 2021, Cuppy embarked on yet another academic pursuit, studying African Studies at the prestigious University of Oxford, where she graduated in 2022.
DJ Cuppy’s rise to fame began in 2014 when she served as the resident DJ at the MTV Africa Music Awards in Durban. She further solidified her position by performing at high-profile events, including the Financial Times Business of Luxury Summit in Mexico City.
DJ Cuppy describes her sound as “Neo-Afrobeats,” a fusion of Afrobeat and electronic house music. Her innovative approach has earned her accolades and collaborations with renowned artists like Sarkodie, Rema, and Stonebwoy.
In addition to her music career, DJ Cuppy is a passionate philanthropist. She launched the Cuppy Foundation in 2018, which has raised significant funds for the Save the Children initiative in Nigeria. Her dedication to youth empowerment also led to her appointment as an international celebrity ambassador for His Majesty King Charles III’s The King’s Trust.
DJ Cuppy’s influence extends beyond music. She has been a brand ambassador for major organizations, including Pepsi and Save the Children UK. Her work continues to inspire a new generation of African women breaking barriers.
